Muse in Rose
Studio session, Brooklyn · 2026 · Beauty series
Overview
Muse in Rose is a studio beauty series built around a single backdrop and a single idea: confidence reads louder than ornament. One blush-pink seamless, one large softbox, and a sitter who arrived nervous and left asking when we could do it again.
The challenge was restraint. With so little in the frame, every choice shows — the tilt of a chin, a centimetre of catchlight, the exact edge where cheek meets shadow. We shot slowly, reviewed together on the monitor, and refined pose by pose until the portraits felt inevitable.
Approach
Beauty work is a collaboration with the sitter's own eye. I show frames as we go, because nobody performs well blind — seeing a strong image mid-shoot unlocks the next ten. Retouching stays honest: tone, texture and flyaways, never reshaped faces. What you see is the person, at their most composed.
"Watching the photos appear on screen changed how I see myself. I walked out standing taller."
